Employees are vital to an organization's success. In fact, employees are not just resources; they are the heart and soul of a company, driving its growth, innovation, and reputation.

Currently, many occupational diseases such as refractive error, digestive diseases, thyroid lesions, and breast lesions are increasingly common, so periodic health checks for employees have become extremely necessary.

1. Top 10 common employee health issues in the first quarter of 2024

Our internal data reveals a concerning trend: in the first quarter of 2024, CarePlus has seen a significant surge in dental health problems, ophthalmology issues, and dyslipidemia, with rates ranging from 48% to 84%.

  • Dental problems are the most common disease, accounting for 84% of cases. The three most common problems are gingivitis, tooth decay, and unextracted wisdom teeth.

  • More than 50% of employees have ear, nose, and throat (ENT) and ophthalmology problems, which require regular health screenings.

  • Health problems related to metabolism, including dyslipidemia, fatty liver, elevated liver enzymes, overweight and obesity (BMI>27), dysglycemia, and hypertension account for 10% to 48%.

  • Thyroid lesions account for 46% and must be monitored regularly.

  • Breast lesions in female employees: 83% of female staff performed breast ultrasound, of which up to 46% of cases had breast lesions. Accordingly, with this classification, the lesions will likely worsen and require intervention—in-depth testing.

2. Corporate healthcare - the vital key to sustainable development

The challenge of human resource management is to maintain the stability of the workforce and ensure that employees are in the best physical and mental well-being to contribute to their work. Good health is a determining factor in employee performance. Healthy workforces will have lower absenteeism rates, perform better, manage their stress and time more efficiently, and withstand higher work pressure.

Offering employee health benefits makes sense for many reasons, including increasing productivity, maintaining motivation, and enhancing company image.

Besides, the CarePlus Vietnam app - a technology innovation that helps individual and business customers access medical services quickly and conveniently: medical records (lab test results and diagnostic imaging results), prescriptions), vaccination records, video calls with doctors and medicine delivery.

Regular employee health checks not only help maintain sustainable well-being for the whole team but also provide an overview of workforce health. From there, corporations can have timely care plans and reduce medical costs, compensation, or unnecessary insurance utilization and claims.

CarePlus is pleased to accompany the corporation in preserving employee health and building a foundation for future development.

3. Support employees' mental health at the workplace

In order to face the current global economic landscape, businesses need to focus on human resources—the employees—in addition to organizational changes.

Considering the relationship between employee mental health and business development, more employers pay attention to their workforce's mental well-being. Currently, the staff is getting younger and younger, and the Alpha and Gen Z generations are starting to integrate into the working environment, leading to many changes in workplace healthcare trends. Many surveys have given specific numbers related to mental health issues at work. According to LinkedIn statistics in 2022: "66% of Gen Z employees want company culture built on physical and mental health."

Improving employee well-being is not just a way to make your employees feel better; it’s a needed strategic investment. “More happiness—more productivity” is the easiest way to describe the relationship between employee mental health and business development.

4. Boost employee wellbeing with engaging wellness events and workshops

Workshops about mental well-being or physical health are an opportunity for employees to share their problems and provide all team members with more knowledge about health care.

As a healthcare partner of more than 1.000 corporation, CarePlus coordinates with corporate partners to organize Health Talk and training classes to improve employees' healthcare and disease prevention knowledge.
