7 Bad Habits That Affect Children Teeth

1. SLEEP DUTY TILE, SLEEP BOTTLE:

With this habit for a long time, it will not only make children susceptible to tooth decay and loss of baby teeth very quickly because there is always sugar in the mouth. but also creates pressure on the jaw, narrowing the jaw arch, thereby causing the child's upper jaw to protrude, the lower jaw to push down, causing the teeth to deviate, open bite.

2. MOUTH BREATHING:

When the child regularly breathes through the mouth, the tongue will follow the lower jaw (the tongue is a natural orthodontic appliance to expand the upper jaw passively) then the two muscles in the cheeks squeeze, causing narrowing of the upper arch, facial bone system unbalanced development.

3. SUCKING LIPS OR LISTS:

Sucking the lower lip easily causes hypoplasia of the lower jaw bone, protruding teeth. Sucking the upper lip causes the lower jaw to protrude. For children 5 years and older, it is recommended to take them to the dentist to have them wear a retainer.

4. PUSH FORWARD:

Tongue thrust is a child's habit of putting the tip of the tongue forward to block the space between the teeth and the mouth. It negatively affects the development of teeth, aesthetics, chewing function, and pronunciation function. Therefore, parents need to observe and guide the child to put the tongue in the right position.

5. FINGER SUCKING:

Continuous thumb sucking for a long time will cause teething in the wrong position, causing protrusion, open bite ... as a result, bad aesthetics, affected chewing function, and poorer pronunciation.

6. STANDARD NAIL, pens, HARD objects:

This habit is very harmful because it will make children's teeth worn, prone to cracks, chipping, pain, toothache...

7. ARBITRARILY EXTRACTING TEETH AT HOME:

In fact, there are many cases where parents think that baby teeth can be extracted at home because it is easy. However, the time the baby replaces the baby teeth is also the time when the permanent teeth begin to erupt.

If the child is taken to the clinic for tooth extraction to be evaluated for the permanent tooth germ and consider whether or not to have the tooth extracted.

8. FRIENDLY EATING DRUGS OR SWEETS

Young children often like snacks or sweets… and this not only makes them flat on their stomach, easily skip meals, gain weight or become obese, but also prone to tooth decay if they don't take care of their teeth properly.

Parents, do not be subjective with your children's bad habits, take time for your children to have regular dental check-ups every 3 months to monitor and take the best care of their children's oral health.
