1 / What is a blood test?

Blood test or hematology test is measuring the levels of certain substances in the blood or counting different types of blood cells. The objective is looking for signs of disease or pathogens, checking for antibodies or signs of a tumor, and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.

2 / Blood test procedure

Before the blood test

  • Not drink any medicine in the morning. Periodic blood pressure medicine is allowed to be used normally.

Blood test procedure

Blood tests happen by taking a sample from a blood vessel in the arm. Blood samples in children are taken from the tip of the ring finger.

  • Step 1: The doctor puts a cuff around the arm to slow blood flow and make the veins more prominent, making it easy to draw blood.

  • Step 2: wipe the skin with antiseptic before taking a blood sample.

  • Step 3: Insert the needle into the vein to take blood.

  • Step 4: When the sample is taken, the needle will be removed, pressing a cotton ball tightly over the skin for a few minutes.

  • Step 5: Cover the small wound to keep it clean.

  • Step 6: After the blood is drawn, the blood sample is put into a bottle labeled with your name and details. It is sent to the laboratory for microscopic examination or chemical testing, depending on the testing requirements.
