COVID-19 Testing | What you should know?

Currently, real-time molecular biology test RT-PCR and rapid test for SARS-CoV-2 virus antigen are two methods that the Ministry has approved of Health to diagnose COVID-19. However, each technique has two sides.

When performing the test, there may be some cases of new patients with COVID-19, the amount of virus that has not yet multiplied in large numbers, leading to a negative rapid test result while they already have the disease. Or there are many other cases where the test results are harmful for the first 2-3 times, and the next is positive.

So, which test method should be applied and performed to get the most accurate results when the disease is suspected?

MASKED HYPERTENSION
Masked hypertension refers to a condition where a patient’s blood pressure (BP) appears normal (below 140/90 mmHg) when measured in a clinical setting but exceeds the threshold of 135/85 mmHg when measured outside the clinic, such as at home or with ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) over 24 hours. The concern with masked hypertension is that it often goes unnoticed, yet it poses significant health risks. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications such as kidney failure, vision loss, heart failure, and an increased risk of stroke.
