Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease in Bodybuilders - Less Realized Factors

Maintaining a healthy weight is a good way doctors often recommend to relieve GERD symptoms. Recently, however, many patients are more likely to have GERD that is aggravated or triggered by overtraining in certain sports.

Exercise can help prevent or relieve symptoms of acid reflux symptoms. A healthy diet and exercise can reduce your symptoms and limit the chance of any complications related to GERD.

Here are the things you need to know in the process of sports training you should do to ensure efficiency as well as good health.

  • Do not exercise after eating for 2 hours - When the stomach has not yet consumed all the food, but the core, lifting heavy weights, then handstand - inadvertently increases abdominal pressure and relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, causing reflux.
  • Before exercising, avoid foods such as chocolate, spicy, greasy or caffeine. Eat a low-protein, high-carbohydrate meal before exercise.
  • Drink water - During exercise should drink more water.
  • Consider losing weight or delaying weight gain, reducing exercises that increase abdominal pressure like extreme crunches... when you have symptoms. It is possible to do single exercises that work only muscle groups rather than compound exercises. Yogis should avoid planting bananas or head-down exercises.
  • And most importantly, don't give up your workout! Exercise is both beautiful, anti-stress, lose weight and stabilize weight, very good for GERD patients.
  • If necessary, see a gastroenterologist for more advice on appropriate treatment
