Gardasil 9 (also known as the 9-valent HPV vaccine) was approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health in 2021 and has been available in Vietnam since May 2022.
The HPV Gardasil 9 vaccine provides protection against 9 high-risk and prevalent HPV types, including HPV 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58. These HPV types are associated with cancers and precancerous lesions or dysplasia of the cervix, vulva, vagina, anus, oropharynx, and other head and neck cancers, as well as genital warts caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in both women and men.
1/ ELIGIBLE POPULATION
Gardasil 9 is indicated for both males and females aged 9 to 45 years.
2/ VACCINATION SCHEDULE
🔎 For children aged 9 to under 15 years, there are 2-dose or 3-dose schedules as follows:
▶️ 2-dose schedule:
▪️ Dose 1: First dose given within the recommended age range
▪️ Dose 2: Given 6–12 months after dose 1
👉 If dose 2 is given less than 5 months after dose 1, a third dose is required at least 3 months after dose 2 (in this case, consultation with a doctor is needed before vaccination).
▶️ 3-dose schedule (0–2–6):
▪️ Dose 1: First dose given within the recommended age range
▪️ Dose 2: At least 2 months after dose 1
▪️ Dose 3: At least 4 months after dose 2
🔎 For individuals aged 15 to 45 years at the time of the first dose:
▶️ 3-dose schedule (0–2–6):
▪️ Dose 1: First dose given within the recommended age range
▪️ Dose 2: At least 2 months after dose 1
▪️ Dose 3: At least 4 months after dose 2
▶️ Accelerated schedule:
▪️ Dose 1: First dose given within the recommended age range
▪️ Dose 2: At least 1 month after dose 1
▪️ Dose 3: At least 3 months after dose 2
