Medicine that can be used for F0, F1 quarantined at home

With the current outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, medical care facilities and makeshift hospitals are overloaded. Under a lot of pressure, so on July 14, 21, the Ministry of Health issued a statement. They were officially deployed to isolate some groups of F0/F1 objects at home. So what drugs should F0 or F1 family members prepare for when separating at home?

Medicine that can be used for F0, F1 quarantined at home

1. Antipyretic and pain relievers containing acetaminophen such as Panadol, Efferalgan, Tylenol, Hapacol.

Fever, headache, muscle aches, etc., are typical symptoms of Covid-19. According to statistics, up to 43% of people infected with Covid-19 have a fever, 36.1% have muscle pain, and 34.4% have headaches. Therefore, it is recommended to equip fever-reducing and pain-relieving medicines containing brand name acetaminophens such as Panadol, Efferalgan, Tylenol, Hapacol at home to prevent and take care of yourself or your loved ones during home isolation.

Notes on drug use:

- Should only be used when high fever or severe pain. Do not arbitrarily use if there are no symptoms because it will affect the liver and kidneys.

- The allowable dose of Acetaminophen is 10-15 mg/kg/time.

For example, you weigh 50kg => your allowable dose of acetaminophen is between 500mg (50kg x 10mg) to 750mg (50kg x 15mg), equivalent to 1-1.5 tablets

- The interval between 2 doses is at least 4 hours and should NOT be used more than four times or 3g/24 hours.

Currently, there is a lot of information shared online about the hoarding of Tylenol and the use of Tylenol as a drug to treat Covid. This information is entirely incorrect because Tylenol essentially shares the same brand name acetaminophen with Panadol, Paracetamol, etc., just different from the trade name and origin from the US. And Tylenol is also only recommended for use when there is a fever or severe pain, so people should not arbitrarily use Tylenol as a medicine to prevent or treat Covid-19.

2. Oresol to rehydrate if there is diarrhea

19.3% of people infected with Covid-19 have diarrhea. Oresol is a popular oral rehydration solution used to replace fluids and electrolytes with diarrhea, fever, or vomiting.

3. Phosphalugel, Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, Rabeprazole if there is stomach pain

7.6% of people infected with Covid-19 have symptoms of abdominal pain and stomach pain. Or there are cases where many infected people (F0) and their caregivers (F1) are too worried because they have symptoms of stomach pain and gastroesophageal reflux. Phosphalugel, Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, Rabeprazole… are drugs that you can use in these cases.

4. Vitamin EAS Supplement

Supplement Vitamin D with oral Vietamin D 1000UI/day or sun exposure for 10-15 minutes/day, drink milk, eat eggs, mushrooms

5. Cough medicine such as Bromhexin, Acetylcysteine, Herbal

6. Folk remedies for flu, sore throat

7. Patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, viral hepatitis, asthma, etc., need to continue maintaining their daily medication.

! In addition to the above drugs, the family should equip with a thermocouple, a blood pressure monitor (if the family has older adults, people with cardiovascular disease or hypertension), a blood glucose meter (if the family members have diabetes). People with diabetes).

Patients should only use 0.9% saltwater to gargle daily, do not arbitrarily mix saltwater or use hypertonic saline to gargle or drop throat. The use of hypertonic saline will cause further damage to the nasopharyngeal mucosa cells, leading to easy ulceration and superinfection with other bacteria.

! For sauna: The steam has the effect of vasodilating, increasing body temperature, leading to a temporary increase in resistance, but does not affect prevention or treatment of COVID-19.

Above all, please adhere to 5K, vaccinate if you are vaccinated, and focus on protecting the health of the elderly, pregnant women, and people with underlying medical conditions in the family because these are all people who are easily affected. Get worse if you have COVID-19.
