Molnupiravir is one of the antiviral medicine included in the COVID-19 treatment regimen by the Ministry of Health in Vietnam. Whether anyone can take molnupiravir and it could help you prevent Covid-19?

1. DO NOT arbitrarily use without a doctor's prescription
The antiviral medicine Molnupivair is indicated for patients from 18 years old with mild symtoms and has at least one risk factors of severe illness (unvaccinated, people who are not yet vaccinated, elderly, people with underlying medical conditions as listed, ...)
2. DO NOT use more than 5 consecutive days
Use it within 5 days from the date of a positive test result. In cases patients need to be hospitalized who have been previously use molnupiravir, they can continue to use the medicineto complete the 5-day treatment regimen at the discretion of the treating physician.
3. NO prophylactic treatment before or after suspected exposure
4. DO NOT use for contraindications (pregnant women, children under 18 years old, ...)
Women of childbearing potential MUST use effective and suitable contraception for up to 4 days after taking the last dose of Molnupiravir.
- For nursing women: do not breast-feed until 4 days after the last dose of Molnupiravir.
- For Men of reproductive age: Use appropriate and effective contraception during treatment and for at least 3 months after the last dose of molnupiravir.
5. DO NOT use Molnupiravir or other antiviral medicines of unknown origin
6. DO NOT use with expectation of rapid/symptomatic relief:
The antiviral medicine molnupiravir reduces the risk of hospitalization and death by 30% in unvaccinated people and people have at least 1 risk factor for severe disease (older age, underlying medical condition). There is currently no evidence of symptom relief or negative result in vaccinated people.
