White Milk Spots On Fingernails & The Myth of Nutrition Dificiency in Children

Punctate Leukonychia, also known as white nails or milk spots, is a medical term for white discolouration appearing on nails. It can appears in many different shapes, such as: broken rice, round or sliced rice.

If white spots appear without other signs, this phenomenon is completely normal and harmless and don't indicate any specific vitamin deficiency at all.

Most commonly caused by minor injuries, such as nail biting, that occur while the nail is growing.

Punctate Leukonychia is quite common for everyone, especially in children from 1-3 years old as children in this group tend to use their hands to explore everything around them.

Usually, we just need to watch as time goes on, these white spots will disappear naturally when the nails grow longer and the surface of nails is replaced.
