According to statistics, Vietnam records approximately 26,262 new cases of lung cancer each year, with an annual death toll of up to 23,797. Lung cancer ranks among the leading cancers in terms of both incidence and mortality in Vietnam, second only to liver cancer in both men and women. Notably, according to the global cancer report GLOBOCAN, more than 90% of lung cancer cases in Vietnam in 2020 were associated with smoking.
HIGH RISK FACTORS FOR LUNG CANCER

Smoking: This is the biggest risk factor. About 85-90% of lung cancer cases are caused by smoking, including direct smoking and passive smoking.

Genetic factors and family history: People with a family history of lung cancer are at higher risk. Genetic factors can also play an important role in increasing the risk.

History of lung disease: People who have had chronic lung diseases such as pneumonia, tuberculosis or pulmonary fibrosis are at higher risk of lung cancer.

Unhealthy lifestyle: An unhealthy diet, low in fiber, vegetables and fruits, and lack of exercise can affect the immune system and increase the risk of the disease.

THE GOLD STANDARD IN LUNG CANCER SCREENING

🩺 A low-dose CT scan detects abnormal lung cells at an early stage, even when cancer signs are minimal. The radiation exposure per scan is significantly lower (around 90% less) than that of conventional CT scans, posing minimal risk to the patient. This lower dose also allows for closer follow-up intervals compared to standard CT scans, enabling timely monitoring of tumor progression and prompt treatment.
