TAKE CARE OF YOUR BABY'S ORAL HEALTH FROM BIRTH

👶 Many parents mistakenly believe that newborn babies only drink milk, so oral hygiene is not essential. However, plaque, which can be called milk residue, remains in the oral cavity of babies under one year old. So, it is necessary to clean to remove plaque and harmful bacteria on the gums or baby teeth.

👉  Oral hygiene for babies under one year old will be different through each stage of development in the first year. Care will be divided into two phases as follows:

🔶 Oral care for babies who have not yet grown baby teeth

When your baby has not yet grown baby teeth, cleaning their teeth after each meal or before going to bed will help make the teething process more comfortable.

For 5-month-old baby, you will clean their teeth twice a day (when your baby wakes up in the morning and when you bathe them in the afternoon)

During this period, your baby's gums are still delicate and sensitive. Use a special baby gauze pad or a soft cloth to clean them. Dip the pad in clean, warm water or physiological saline and gently wipe your baby's gums.

🔶 Oral care for baby starting to grow baby teeth

Children ages 6 - 8 months old will begin to grow teeth; the first teeth are the two lower front teeth. At this stage, parents can use a soft toothbrush and a soft cloth to clean their baby's teeth by following these steps:

🔸 Step 1: Dip the brush in clean water or physiological saline

🔸 Step 2: Gently brush each group of teeth (about 2-3 teeth), directing the brush to about 45 degrees relative to the teeth. Remember to brush all three sides of your baby's teeth: the outside, the inside, and the chewing surface.

🔸 Step 3: Use a soft towel to wipe your baby's teeth and gums.

👉 It's never too early to care for your baby's oral health. Even though they have not yet grown teeth, cleaning the gums and mouth is necessary to keep the baby's milk teeth healthy and prevent dental problems.

Try to maintain this daily so your baby won't fear oral hygiene later.
